Also termed as Pressure injuries, Bed sores means localized damage of skin and underlying tissue due to pressure with or without friction at specific area. It is generally seen at hips, heels, lower back, back of shoulder etc. It is commonly seen in bed ridden patients like that of Chronic illnesses like Paralysis. Its risk factors include Diabetes, raised Cholesterol levels, Smoking etc.
According to Ayurveda, this occurs due to dominance of Kapha Dosha, Aama Dosha, Kleda, Rakta dhatu dushti and it may be associated with Krimi Sansarga.
Treatment:
- Ayurvedic internal medications along with local applications and regular dressing with Ayurvedic medicines are advised after understanding the case in detail.
Panchakarma Treatment:
- Raktamokshnana, Lepana, Dhavana are some key Panchakarma treatments which may be performed as per necessicity under strict medical supervision.
Helpful Tips
- Avoid having diet that increases Kapha Dosha and which is heavy to digest like Curd, Bakery Products, Fermented foods, oily food, outside eatables, spicy food etc. Avoid food items that are sticky in nature e.g. rice, custard apple etc. Have green vegetables regularly and do regular exercise.
