Chikungunya fever is a type of fever caused due to Chikungunya virus and spreads generally due to Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti mosquito. Characterized by high grade fever with joint pain, Chikungunya may be associated with red coloured rash, swelling at joints, headache, muscle pain and fatigue. It takes roughly 7 to 10 days to recover from Chikungunya, but the duration may extend in some cases and patient may suffer from joint pain even for few months.
According to Ayurveda, this occurs due to dominance of Pitta Dosha/ Vaata Dosha and Aama Dosha along with Agantuja Krimi Sansarga. It is termed as Agantuja Pittaja / Vaataja Nava Jwara.
