Highlights of disease
Characterized by increased frequency and urgency of micturation, Prostate enlargement may be associated with weak stream of urine and lower abdominal fullness. It generally occurs in elder males and may land up in Prostatic cancer if not treated.
According to Ayurveda, this occurs due to dominance of Vaata Dosha, Aama Dosha and Kapha Dosha.
- The diagnosis of Prostatic enlargement is confirmed with the help of Ultrasound and some blood tests and Ayurvedic medications are advised after understanding the case in detail.
- Snehana, Swedana, Basti, Uttarbasti and Avagaaha sweda are some key Panchakarma treatments which may be performed as per necessicity under strict medical supervision.
- Avoid having diet that increases Vaata Dosha like Curd, Sprouts, Bakery Products, Fermented foods, sour and oily food etc. Do regular exercise and Yoga. Avoid applying pressure during micturation or holding the natural urge of micturation.
