Insomnia is a condition where people face problem falling asleep or staying asleep as desired. It is followed by daytime sleepiness, fatigue, depressed mood, irritability etc. It may also arise as a complication of psychological stress, heart burn, hyperthyroidism, menopause etc.
According to Ayurveda, this occurs due to increase in Vaata Dosha and Rajo Dosha.
- Ayurvedic internal medications are advised after understanding the case in detail.
- Snehana, Swedana, Vamana, Virechan, Basti, Shirodhara, Shiro Abhyanga, Shiro pichu, Shirobasti, Nasya are some key Panchakarma treatments which may be performed as per necessicity under strict medical supervision.
- Avoid factors that increase Vaata Dosha like Bakery Products, Fermented foods, improper dietary habits, cold products etc. Having regular exercise and balanced diet is advised. Avoid addictive substances. Pranayama, Yoga and meditation and good results in these cases. Listen to good and peaceful music.
