Characterized by irregular menses, extremely painful or totally painless menses, heavy or minimal menstrual flow, PCOS may be associated with obesity, acne, mood swings and increased facial hairs. It generally occurs in young females and may land up in Infertility if not treated.
According to Ayurveda, this occurs due to dominance of Vaata Dosha/Pitta Dosha/ Kapha Dosha and Aama Dosha
- The diagnosis of PCOS is confirmed with the help of Ultrasound and some blood tests and Ayurvedic medications are advised after understanding the case in detail.
- Snehana, Swedana, Basti and Virechan are some key Panchakarma treatments which may be performed as per necessicity under strict medical supervision.
- A good and proper diet and lifestyle regimen is necessary to be followed in such cases. Avoid having diet that increases Vaata Dosha like Curd, Bakery Products, Fermented foods, oily food, outside eatables etc. Do regular exercise and Yoga. Avoid taking hormones and steroids.
